Cellphone Neck

More on the neck and it's preventable causes of pain...

As if there weren't enough reasons to beware the cellphone; I will add one more to the mix.

It seems we have succeeded in becoming attached at the neck to our cellphones or any phone, for that matter. Our ever increasing needs to be in constant contact with key individuals - be it the babysitter, Jobs, investments or friends & associates, could quite litterally be the cause of your pain in the neck.

Okay - there may be some pun intended in that statement but the fact is - if you are habitually holding your neck in the laterally tilted and turned toward that same side, with your shoulder hiked up, position. (holding a cell phone to your ear with no hands while multitasking on a regular babsis, for examlpe.) You could most definately be headed for a thoracic/cervical spine imbalance. Specifically, a contracted/overused or repetative stress syndrome effecting splenius cervicis, capitus the semispinalis muscles and/or possibly the deeper rotators in the upper thoracic and/or cervical spine.

To avoid this extremely unfortunate and painful condition, you may want to consider switching over to a headset; especially if you spend a great deal of time on the phone in this position daily.
